Internal waves generation: controlling spatial structures to investigate specific oceanic issues

Internal waves are ubiquitous in the ocean, and they play an important
role in energy exchange. Internal wave spatial structures range from
very localized beams to very large scale modes. We
present a novel laboratory internal wave generator that enables us to
study internal waves in a fluid with complex stratification and
to study the interaction of internal waves with topography.
